LET'S WORK TOGETHER
My day started off by photographing morning prep in the Kerry farmhouse where Áine grew up.If you are Irish you know the one, the one where the ‘range’ is the heart of the home and where all the chats happen. The one where the sacred heart greets your arrival and a cup of tae is placed into your hand before you have the door closed behind you. With such a warm and friendly welcome from this lovely family, I relaxed immediately. More cups of tea were made,laughs were a plenty.The Scanlon’s love of the irish language spoken throughout,left me googling ways of improving my own grasp of a language that I love to hear being spoken but embarrassingly enough can’t speak myself. Every spot in this home, both inside and indeed out was a photo opportunity waiting to be captured, I would be still there shooting if they would have let me!
Looking incredible in her dress by the white room in Mullingar Áine married her handsome Longford groom Colm in the picturesque church in Duagh,Co.Kerry. After the ceremony, we drove to Killarney where made a pit-stop at the incredible Muckross House & Gardens for a really enjoyable portrait-shoot with the couple and their bridal party. We then headed across the road to the idyllicly located Muckross Park Hotel. Aine & Colm were blessed to have an outdoor drinks reception with unsurprisingly traditional irish music provided by the insanely talented Michael O’Brien.
After dinner there was heartfelt speeches and a few nightime shots. When the first dance was complete,I left it to the incredible Controversial All-stars to entertain the wedding party as I fell into my car, wrecked but absolutely buzzing. Elation that only comes from knowing that it was another job well done and that I captured moments that will only become more important as the years roll in to decades.
I put on the tunes and opened a bag of pic ‘n’ mix from the sweet cart (that had mysteriously made their way into my camera bag!!;) and hit the road home to west limerick.
